Same issue here.  Now i reset the trip meter.  When I get to 400 miles, I know I need to start looking for a gas station.

Hello All!   I put some info out about this about 2-3 monts ago. My 04 came off the lot with this problem. The replaced the fuel sending unit 2 different times before they got one that worked.

Mine just started after 10,000 miles.  I've filled the tank a few times completely and the fule gage needle reads just under full, wierd.  It s probably an issue to bring to the dealer here!

I took mine in today for the same problem. They are replacing the sending module. See what happens when I get it back.

My guage would never top out at Full. Turns out to be a bent fuel rod. Dealer (Mossy Oceanside, Ca) replaced it...guage is dead on.

I am having the same issue with the guage. It seems that I go through 1/4 tank in 60 miles

How big of a deal is "replacing the sending unit" on one of these trucks.  I mean, is it a 1/2 day at the dealer, or is it a drop off and go eat lunch and pick it up when you get back deal?

Is there a TSB for it?

I'm not sure I've ever had a vehicle that read 100% accurately. So in my twenty years of driving Fords, Hondas, Nissans, Kias, Chevys, Chryslers and Toyotas not to mention rentals and borrowed cars, I usually start looking for a gas station once the needle hits 1/4 tank. I've always figured the guage was just a guide and I'm glad to know that once the needle hits empty there should be enough gas to get me to a gas station, however, with current gas prices, I've been filling up closer to 1/2 tank (it seems easier to pay $35 for a fill up than $50, even though I know I'm filling up more often). Iv'e also noticed that most vehicles that I've driven will easily go 300 miles on a tank of gas so I have always tried to fill up between 275 and 300 miles. I've never relied on sensors and gauges I've found that if I pay attention to my vehicle, I can usually tell when something needs attention before it becomes a problem.
