No need to lump ALL Titan owners in with us doubters

I checked TSB's and Recalls to see if there is a problem with this issue - there isn't. So - whatever it is, you've got us curious. And no matter what you think, it's nice of you to look after your uncle like that.

I think he was saying that since Nissan redesigned the covers on the 05 models that maybe there was a problem with the original design on the 04s ...I personally do not tow anything and havent had any problems.

Nissan knows of the problem and is replacing rearends. The gears get too hot and start to "change". The finned diff is the same solution Nissan did on the 350s. If we had enough fluid we wouldn't need a finned diff cover. Kid, head over to Titantalk.com for much more on this subject. There are even a few Nissan service managers who have the same problem.

i have almost 11k and no trouble out of my rear axle and i do tow a trailer from time to time. if the dealer is doing a good prep before delivery, they should catch a low oil level. but, all dealers are not the same. some do little as possible to gain as much gross profit as they can. i can attest to this since i have a mack truck dealership. hope you get your problem resolved.

Pretty vague problem.

Can you be more specific than "the rear end has to be replaced?" There are no recalls, TSB's to my knowledge regarding problems in the rear end. Just the usual run-of-the-mill stuff like the radio fades, rotors are bad, etc.

Also - there's no break-in period. You can tow from day 1. I have pulled up-to 7,500 pounds already and absolutely no problems - don't even know anything is back there.

Also, since he wants to get it "lemon lawed," what other recurring problems has he experienced that Nissan has failed to fix, per that law.

Thanks.

heres the scoop.  mine went into the shop at 11000, blown gears, now its in again 16000, blown gears.  yes they have a problem with the rears.  no they dont know how to fix it.  my new diff was a 05 model straight off the factory floor.  i like nissans better than the competition, but im really pissed that my truck is going to be in the shop another month.  really makes nissan look like they dropped the ball.any doubters can call southpoint nissan in austin tx.
