Question...

Is the problems just with the rear ends or is there any problems with the front ends on the 4X4 trucks also. After getting my truck back from the bedliner problem and reading this topic, I decided to change my rear end fluid with synthetic to try and head off another potential problem. When I drained the fluid, there were three large metal parts that came out of the rear end. After cleaning and examining these, I concluded that they are parts of the pinion gear. I will not take the back cover off untill the dealer takes a look at it. I am very disturbed that I may be out of my truck again for several weeks. It is Sunday and I just got it back on Thursday.

My uncle finally got his truck back with a brand new rear end yesterday, with the new finned cover on it. He is moderatly happy to have his truck back, but says he is now worried of it happening again, hopefully it won't.

OMG sonnytimes - it's Sunday so I'm gonna say a prayer that those pieces were not from your pinion.  What makes you think they're from the pinion?

Tom

Thanks Tom!!

I have put together several chevy rear ends. My friends have had several come apart at dirt track and drag strip. We all think it is the pinion gear. I havn't taken the cover off yet. I'll leave that to the dealer.

Just incase someone tries to take that the wrong way...I do not run it on the strip or track or "dog" my truck in any way. It has been babied since it is my transportation to and from work.

Lemon Law will not cover this unless it becomes habitual.  Had a 2001 Jeep with 4 sets of brakes in 25k miles and 8 months and nothing could be done.  Have not heard of any fleet wide problems either so sorry.

Hey guys

my uncle has an 04 titan, broke it in properly, has about 6000 miles on the clock now. He was towing his trailer a couple weeks ago, and the rear end started to make noises, he took it in, and they said the rear end had to be replaced. It's been at the dealer for like 25 days now, he has been driving alittle mitsu rental, it's pretty sad, lol. He is pretty pissed and wants to get it lemon lawed. I was just wonderin, whats the word on the street about the rear end problems? Apperently it's got to be pretty big, all the parts have been on backorder for along time, thats why it's just been sitten at the dealer?

Thanks,

Nate

***UPDATE***

Took the truck back today. They took it back without any problems. I'm riding in a darango. Call this afternoon and said Nissan couldn't get a rearend untill later Feb. Untill then I'l  be riding in rentals. The dealer seems to be doing everything they can within reason. Can't really ask for more just wish for more.

Happy trails to those who still have theirs.  LOL

Hey, tda3......I appreciate your comments regarding how a certain unnamed someone's persistant condascending and disparaging comments seem to go on and on with impugnity.

I have been reading this Forum since August 04, a month or so before I bought a Titan.  I only decided to become a member after I too noticed the unnamed someone"s continual attitude superiority.  I read all I could take when the white bedliner situation of member thaimonkee was doggedly harangued by the unnamed one.

My first post was in defense of thaimonkee and his, what I believe to be, realistic and legitimate concern.  The moderator was very quick to set me straight, and rightfully so...I didn't abide by the rules.

Perhaps some authority might with equal vigor caution the unnamed provoker to stop with all of the "it didn't happen to me, I don't believe you, I'm too smart to be fooled, etc" sort of instigation.

The forum seems a much friendlier place when that sort of thing does not occur.
