 HELP !!!???

I have gotten 3 flat tires in my new Nissan TITAN in the last 7,000miles.....I have the 18in Goodyear Wranglers. I think these are CRAP tires to begin with, but I have had 3 flats which seems UNUSALLY high ????

Anyone else out there have a similar problem???????????

Has it been the same tire location on every flat or 3 different tires? Example: is always the front driver's side or has it been 3 different ones total? Also, when you take your tires to be fixed, is it a hole or slit in the tire?

But yes, that does sound kind of high for a number of flats. Knock on wood, I haven't encountered any yet, although I have the Off Road Pkg with BFG Rugged Trail, not that I think it makes a difference.

None for the titan. 3 so far this year on the dully & trailer & it's freakin feburary. I keep a plug kit in all the trucks except the titan. It's pulling estimate duty. Got to keep up a good image. Nothing like having the right tool for the job.

You should look at where you drive. Do you drive in construction area's or someone doesn't like you..

Nope I don't think so, on the coincedence. I also have the 18" tires and I had a pin hole in it, so went and had it plugged. No problems for awhile. A week or so later the tire started going down every other day. I figured that the plug may have not sealed it off or had come out all together. So, took it to my tire guy, and noticed a big bubble in the tread. Broke the tire down and to my surprise it has a factory patch in the tire! I also noticed that I had broken a belt in it and thus ruined the tire. With only 19k miles on it.

Good luck trying to find the 18" Wranglers. I called probably a dozen and a half places and all said that they didn't stock that size. What ones I did find said they would be backordered for 5 to 6 weeks. WTF!!!

I'm sure that Goodyear does know that Nissan sold a few Titans, Why not go ahead and press out a few tires, So the poor folks can have a replacement other than their spare in the event of and emergency.

I eventually ended up buying my tire from Wal-Mart. $129.50 or thereabouts. Not to wild about having my redneck cousin put them on the probably doesn't know a lug nut from his own nuts but, I don't have a choice I guess.(I meant no harm to Wal-Mart tire and lube techs if there are any on this board.) I'm still wondering about the patch. Seems like that woudln't have made it through QC (Quality Control)? I don't know. I'll shut-up for now.

I work at a Michelin Tire Co. factory. As far as the patch, it is normal for the manufacture to install a patch in certian locations inside of the tire. Tires have several different layers of rubbers in them. The part that you see in the inside is a thin intertube type of rubber that is air tight. The rest of the rubber in a tire will let air migrate through it. In the case of small defects a patch could be applied and cured. The tire should be just fine and should go through quality controll again. At Michelin the patches are barely noticeable. In our sister brand (BF Goodrich, Uniroyl) tires they are more noticeable. If the person doing the patches went to deep with the grinding out of the old rubber, it could cause seperation of the nylon cords under the steel belts.

I personally ride on BF Goodrich and have had no problems yet.

Thanks for clearing up the patch. It does look like some significant grinding was done. Do you think that could be covered manufacturers screw-up?
