Technically, yes.  It's possible that the output stage of the XM might interfere with another signal that you try to input there.  Depends if they have any series resistance in the output.  (I'm an EE.)

A better solution would be to install a DPDT switch on the dash so you can select between XM and AUX input jack.  I may end up doing that when I start installing my amps and speakers.

Clarion is the maker of the XM receiver. I have the older Pioneer receiver that looks just like the Clarion except the Pioneer had IP-Bus connectors and the Clarion has an N-Bus connector and no one makes and adapter for it yet. Here is a few photos of my install you will notice in the second photo the XM controller I just set my radio to 89.1 and change channels with the controller. The receiver uses a FM modulator, but still sounds great no static or anything.

Max,

I took your advice on the XM Commander.  It looks great.  But do you have any problem with the antenna sliding back and forth.  Mine has only once but it left a few small scratches on the roof.  I wonder what I could put under it to keep that from happening.

My antenna has never moved.  Is yours moving side to side or front to back?  I have mine positioned very close to the brake light so it can't move forward and backward.  Have you taken your truck through an automatic car wash perhaps?

Well,  I had Circuit City do the install.  I didn't feel too comfortable taking everything apart.  The antenna is centered right above the windshield instead above the break light.  There is a little slack.  I guess I should take it back and have them tighten it up.

Parrott,

I mounted my XM antenna in a similar fashion as Max.  I had some leftover clear abrasion tape that was sent with my bug guard.  I used a small square of it underneath my magnetic antenna to save the paint.  Might give it a try.  Should be able to find some of that kind of tape at an auto parts store or bike shop.

I need XM advice -- I am supposed to be getting my Titan tomorrow. I have an Alpine indash unit with MP3 that folds out etc, model 7897 I think. ALso have the Alpine tuner unit.

My dealer doesn't have any XM options at all, other than to say you can get a Delphi-like solution playing over FM modulator.

I really want to install my Alpine in the dash to replace the factory unit but it seems no one has the kits to do this for Titan yet, and a custom fiberglass job will be several hundred $.

Can anyone give me any ideas at all? I really want direct XM not FM modulated and really want to keep my MP3 player.
