I had the same ticking under acceleration.  I had been trying for 3 months to resolve the problem with different fuel brands, dry gas, and octane levels.  After 2 trips to the dealership, the problem was a grounding issue.  The problem was with the ground that runs from the block to the firewall on the drivers side.  They removed the bolt from the block, installed 2 flat washers, re-installed bolt, and the problem is gone.  The only theory I have is that the wider area of the washer provides a more positive ground, especially as the engine heats up.  The aluminum block would expand more under heat than the steel bolt.  Just my theory, but it worked on my Titan.

Hello,

I am also glad I found this site.  I have an 04 Titan that has the same problem.  (ticking under acceleration)  I took the truck to the garage three times, drove with two technicians and have a call to the Nissan customer service center about the problem.  The posts at this site have given more information than Nissan and the dealer combined.  My question is:  Would it be possible for you to give more information on ware the ground wire that goes from the block to the firewall is located, or a picture?

Thanks for any replies

This noise almost made me go insane last Sept.  I dissassembled the glove box and air box trying to find the noise because I swore the noise was inside.  The ticking would only occur under a load, so simply revving the engine in park would not create the noise. Anyway, to simplify the story; I found the same tiny black wire, low on the passenger-side firewall running perpindicular to the aluminum a/c compressor line.  I thought damn, I wonder if that tiny wire is smacking the compressor line when the engine rocks.  I grabbed a trusty cable tie, tied the wire to the aluminum line, and voila.  The cable tie is still there, the noise is not.

I fortunately do not seem to have a grounding issue.  I have never heard the ticking again. Hopefully this helps someone keep their sanity.
