I would not use air springs. Check with the hitch manufacturer. It appears from your ststed problem that you do not have your hitch sset-up right. I have the same hitch, only with 1000# bars. Your hitch ball may be set to high ,or you may not have the head tilted down enough. You need to have the front of yor truck drop about a1/4 to 1/2 the amount drop you have on the rear. The most important thing you can do is call the factory and get there help. I have towing since 1964 and have used most of the hitchs out there and the one you have is tops.

If you use air bags or stiffer springs you will defeat the sway control of your hitch and will greater problems.

I'm interested in getting the Equalizer Weight Distributing Hitch, they make a 1,000/10,000 and 1,200/12,000 model.  Is yours the 1,000/10,000 model, or the 1,200/12,000 model?

My Equal-I-Zer hitch is the 10,000/1,000 and as far as I'm concerned, it's the best thing out there.  Just be sure to match the hitch capacities to the trailer loads and you can't go wrong!  I understand this brand is more expensive but without going into detail, I truly believe that it's design saved me from serious, if not fatal injury.
