I just got my Titan back from the dealer after having the rear-end replaced at 14K miles - as per my earlier post on this site.

I was pleased to see that under warranty, Nissan put in an entirely new rear - literally from wheel to wheel!  The new unit does have the finned aluminum cover on the differential area.  Service people said I should have no further problems, as this unit has significant re-engineering from the early rear-ends which were installed.
