I had my rotors and pads changed on my 04 SE Crew Cab, at about 4k miles.  The only problem I have had is that my local dealer is HORRIBLE.  In the end I ditched them all togethr and installed the AP Racing 6 piston kit and bigger rotors, I always thought that the Titan was soft from the get go....  but other than that I love my Titan.

JKEN1212, YOU HIT THE PROBLEM ON THE HEAD. TO SMALL OF A ROTOR TO TAKE THE HEAT. I HAVE 2004 XE WITH 18,000 MILES AND I JUST HAD THE ROTORS CUT AND NEW PADS INSTALL BY THE DEALER. THE PROBLEM WITH NISSAN'S FIX IS IT'S A STOP GAP APPOARCH. AFTER 3 YEARS IT BECOMES THE CONSUMERS PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER AND NISSAN THAT IF THE BRAKES FAILED, TO GO TO THE DEALER AND THEY WILL CUT THE ROTORS AND INSTALL NEW PADS. AFTER 3 TIMES THEY WOULD FINALY INSTALL THE NEW LARGER ROTORS AND PADS. I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY JUST WON'T FIX THE PROBLEM THE FIRST TIME INSTEAD OF JURY RIGGING IT 3 TIMES. THE COST OF GOING TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES HAS TO BE MORE EXPENSIVE THAN REPLACING THE ROTORS ONCE. NISSAN IS PLAYING THE #'S GAME HOPING THE 3 YEARS PAST BEFORE IT BECOMES YOUR PROBLEM. THEY USED TO MAKE ROTORS OUT OF CAST IRON BECAUSE IT COULD TAKE THE HEAT. NOW EVERYTHING IS PRESSED STEEL, NOT EVEN VIRGIN STEEL. SOME HOW NISSAN IS GOING TO MAKE THIS RIGHT OR IT WILL BE MY LAST NISSAN PURCHASE.

I don't understand the way Nissan is handling this at all.  I actually got the new heavier rotors installed on my second trip in there but only because they pushed it after I made it clear I wasn't going to take any more of their BS on this issue!!!  I have only had the new ones for a week or two and so far, so good.  They do feel quite different than the originals, so hopefully it is fixed permanently.  My one issue with Nissan's final fix is that they machined the rear rotors too after putting new pads on the rear.  Now the rear rotors are more likely to need replacing sooner and probably after the 36K mile warranty.  I told my dealer that I want new rotors on the rear now because of this.  We'll see what happens.  I have almost 14K miles on my 4x4 '04 SE CC.  This is looking like my last Nissan purchase as well.

I am willing to let a few things go, do to this Nissan's first entry in the full size market.  But I do believe that manufacturer's as a whole try to get it out the door, and leave the dealers and consumers to do their product testing and r&d. The as stated earlier I recommend these kits from A&P Racing. They have just replacement drilled rotors or the full bore kits. I have filed the parts change with my dealer, and Nissan. Nissan told me that would void the warranty on my front brakes, my response, " my life is more important." Other than the dealers being horrible here Columbia, and them trying to jack me out of 1000 dollars. I love my truck.

What truck doesn't have their problems? Dodges had problems with their transmissions.  Fords had problems with their cruise control systems igniting. Chevy has the factory recall on their seat belts.  Given what I paid on a CC, I easily saved $5-10K on these counter parts (excluding Dodge).  So far I've only lost time in taking my truck to the dealership. If after the 3rd fix I'm not satisfied, I'm going to opt for after market rotors and pads. The Titan has great pick up, comfort and it still looks cool:)

I guess I was fortunate that my brakes didn't start going bad until 12,000.  My dealer said the average was about 7,000.  Has anyone heard if Nissan is going to do the right thing and fix this problem?  I don't know about you, but I LOVE MY TRUCK, but don't want to have to pay to get the brakes fixed every year.  I know somethings always go wrong on a vehicle, but brakes going bad every 6 to 10 months shouldn't be one of them.

Ummm... I just got my truck...but I traded in a heavily modified tiburon www.newtiburon.com so I got around to learning most of the laws.  Google search "SEMA modification laws" or something to that effect. (theres also a word for word write up on newtiburon somewhere in the corporate section)  The car manufactures cannot void your "ENTIRE" warranty if you change a part. 

For example if you put on an intake and your transmission fails the intake would only void the stock air intake.   BUT if you put on an intake and then your MAF sensor goes out of wack then of course it will NOT be covered.  They basically have to prove that the part you installed on the vehicle caused the failure of the other part.

I don't know where the majority of users live that frequent the site but the majority of car dealerships/service dept. are very modification friendly down here in Florida (i live in Orlando)...one of the main reasons is becase we don't have any emmissions testing.  Some dealers think its cool as hell and don't care. 

also many ppl appologize for being long winded...f*ck it! talk as much as you want...you should see some of the posts on my old forums.  I loved that tiburon but it was time for something more "grown-up" I'm 21 now and I had the car since i was 17.

I had my brakes redone at around 7400 miles with new pads and turned rotors.  I brought it back in yesterday for it to be turned again.  Only 1500 miles since the last one.  This time it was bad and dangerous.  Everytime I made a sharp turn, it caused my front brakes to lock up!  I have skid marks on my drive way from the 3 days it has been doing it.  I think it got really bad because I was towing a horse trailer around and it must have really heated up.  But this time it could have caused an accident because it was stopping as I turned.  They told me next month the new kit would be in for the permanent fix.  I am getting pretty fed up with the bull and if I had gotten into an accident because of it - there would have been a major law suit headed Nissan's way!  I will give them one more month before I go to my lawyer friend for possible action. Anyone else have this type of problem?
