OK-  Coming back from Galveston on a two lane road, 65 mph speed limit, it's time to pass another truck running about 60 or so.  Short passing lane and I floor it and swing out.  Much to my surprise it just sits there!!  Tranny has downshifted to third. rpm went to about 5K, screaming like a banshee and it's going nowhere.  Upshifts to forth, a little pull and I finally get around him using WAY too much road.  Pucker factor to a full ten.

Another vehicle to pass so instead of flooring it, I give it about 3/4 throttle and the damn thing pulls like a freight train---zip I'm around him and gone.

Evidently, flooring these things at speed is not the way to go.

Anybody??

Rick

I experience something similar when floored, my Titan down shifts way too far down and won't shift up until 6000 rpms or release of the throttle. I also have the tow package and the gear ratio may have something to do with this. I would like to see if the shift points could be changed to 5k or something, 6k just seems high for a stock V-8.

I seem to notice in mine, I get more "response" with 3/4 throttle then I do with mashing it.  I think it has something to do with the truck anticipating wheel spin with full throttle, so it actually activates the anti-spin measures.

I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ALSO WITH MY O4 TITAN.  I THINK THAT MAYBE THE RPM'S ARE RUNNING WAY TO HIGH AND AT THE TIME OF BEING FLOORED AT THAT RPM THE VALVES ARE ALREADY OVERLAPPING AND IT SIMPLY DOESN'T ANYMORE UMP.  I HAVE FELT THAT MAN.  BUT STILL I THINK THE TITAN HAS WELL ENOUGH POWER DON'T YOU.

I've done fine on both accountes: dropping the hammer and a gradually  pushing forward. It just seems to do better and a slower acceleration on the most part. But being sucked back into the seats while jamming in down is fun too!

Its not a push rod V8 so red lines are much higher.

I've got the tow package and i've noticed that the truck seems to pull harder when i don't push it to the floor.

Just put the hammer down about 3/4 of the way and off you will go!
