Last week when I took my truck by the dealership to get my oil changed, my salesman spotted me, came over and told me that he knew a guy that had a chip for the Titan that added 25 HP...I told him mine had more power than I needed, but if it would increase my MPG I might be interested...lol....I declined his offer to give me the guys # but I thought it was funny that a dealer would encourage me to make a mod like that..

i heard that kind of stuff is a scam, and just resets your ECU to run on a cold weather setting which just alows more fuel to enter.... sooo would not be good for your MPG and as far as i know does nothing for power and is nothing more then a cheap scam-o

Could this be the same "chip" or resistor that I've seen on eBay?

On the ad, it says it's a "chip" that adds up to 20 hp. But after reading the entire info, it says that it is a resistor, replacing the factory thing. Don't know if its the same thing or not, or even if it would be worth it.

You can buy the same resistor at radio shack for about 12 cents!

I was curious if it even worked. So, I was browsing around under my hood to see where you would put it. It looks like the IAT sensor where it would go is practically sealed shut in a metal and plastic casing. So, if you were to get one, you would literally have to tear into it to replace the factory resistor. And this overpriced equipment (about $7 with $3 p&h) would be worthless. Even if you went to Radio Shack and bought the same thing for a quarter, you'd still take a risk in breaking something to "add" horsepower while losing MPG. I'm not saying that this resistor "chip" would work, but does anybody else know? Are there other "chips" available that would prove to be worthy? Just curious is all...

I have no idea how this resistor thing is supposed to work in cars or our trucks for that matter, but I added one to my sportbike (about 12 cents) and it was the best mod I made regardless of price. It was a 1998 Suzuki Tl1000r, and from the factory they are made to retard the timing or something to stutter the motor if you get on it too hard in gears 1-3. This was to prevent accidental wheelies or something like that. The resistor completely fixed the problem. Don't know how it is supposed to help in the truck though?
