I was reading with interest the post regarding other truck owners bad-mouthing the Titan. I chalk that up completely to jealousy.
Chevy owners have no room to talk. I have owned a lot of GM products over the years and, with the exception of a mid-90's Buick LeSabre, they have all been royal pieces of crap. Here's just a sample:
84 GMC S-15: Can't even begin to count the problems on this POS, but would begin with the $1,000 in carb work, $1500 in tranny work and a $1500 rebuilt engine all under 100k.
95 S-10: Transmission (manual) was falling out of the thing at 40k miles. "Clutch wind-down time" TSB stated that it was normal to have to keep the clutch depressed at least 15 seconds before going from reverse to first. When I traded this lemon in the "wind-down time" was over a minute. It was very embarrassing trying to leave shopping center parking lots if I couldn't pull out head first.
97 Chevy Lumina: Transmission literally blew apart on this thing at 57k miles. Rebuilt tranny was going out 20K miles later before this car was mercifully wrecked and paid for by Allstate.
97 Chevy Venture: Head gasket blew out on the side of the interstate away from home, costing me $1400 to fix. Less than a year later a few consecutive teeth all broke off the flywheel, costing another $600 to replace. Transmission was starting to shift really hard when I traded this clunker in as partial payment on my Titan.
Bottom line is I've owned 3 Nissan trucks from brand-new (including this Titan) and they have all been world-class in quality. I have owned more cars in my life than I would like to count and besides Nissan, only Toyota and Honda have proven excellent quality. Fords have been OK, and Chrysler and GM have been total junk.

You are 100% correct. I'm in the construction equipment industry (lots of pickup trucks) and when I brought my Titan to work for the first time all i got was "Is that your new Titan out there?" Nobody wanted to see it or look in it or anything. But you let somebody drive in with a new King Ranch Ford and the whole building empties out to go see it. No big deal to me that nobody's interested in my truck. I know what I got (and so do they). This truck is not marketed in an attempt to lure CFD (chevy, ford, dodge) owners away from their brand loyalty. You won't see Titans in construction companies fleets for a while yet. While the big three posted lower than anticipated truck sales the last few months, Nissan's sales were up 50%, mainly based on the sales of the Titan. Looks like Nissan found the niche market it was looking for. Just wait until they start marketing a sport version in 2 or 3 years. YEHAA

We run mostly GM and Ford in our company, Electrical Utility, run mostly 550 Power Strokers and than GM Products mostly 2500 HD'S with the 6 Liter, the Fords just dont' give us problems and the GM Products are holding up nicely also, the 550'S have boom's attached so they weigh in at 18,000 Lbs, from day one they are pushed hard every day, have a few Dodges also but our Fleet Service Manager said that they occur more problems than the other two, We are in the process of purchasing 30 Titans so time will tell, get used hard for construction so this will be the real deal, currently have a 2004 LE Crew Cab with the Off Road Package and Big Tow Package. Have run numerous Chevy Trucks myself in the past and they all treated me great, usually trade at 80,000 but my brother purchased my 1999 Chevy Crewcab which he is using for his work truck, does carpentry and he just turned 170,000 when I talked to him at Christmas, the only repairs he has occured so far is a fuel pump, but to give it credit the fuel filter came apart internally and was just about completely blocked!!!!!!

Please give us the unbiased feedback i am sure most of the TITAN owners are looking for, that is if our trucks can stand up the Chevy's and Fords out there, Performance is one thing, durability is another different animal. I am very curious if my truck is as good as the chevs and fords.
Thanks

I just traded an '04 Chevy Silverado Z71 for my Titan. I admit I was skeptical at first but once I drove the Titan, there was no comparison. I have never owned anything but GM trucks but I am a changed man now. My '04 Chevy only had 26,000 miles and I was already having some transmission problems. It would slip sometimes when shifting into second. It wasnt bad enough to take in for service yet but with only 10,000 left on the warranty, I had this erie feeling that at 36K miles it was going to fall out on the highway. Also, the Titan is much better equipped than Chevy. You cant get Navigation in Chevy and if you do happen to find one with DVD and a sunroof, the dealers treat it like its too good to sell. I am not inetntionally bad-mouthing Chevrolet but it just seems to me that Nissan has put something out there that is going to force the "Big 3" to increase their standards.

I have only had my Titan for 10 days but so far it seems pretty much the same as my Z71 was. An average of about 16 mpg.

Nice to see some of you are getting fair mileage, just turned 8500 miles and have yet to get over 11, driving 60 on a trip and really taking it easy this is the best it does, low fuel light usually come on at 265 miles, taken it to 3 different dealers and they all say the same, nothing wrong some of them just do this ((((WHATEVER)))) pretty sad I think, other than that the truck has been working good, believe the rearend is ready to go, makes a rattling and grinding noise when power is applied, all the paint on the differential cover has come off, sure sign that excessive heating is occuring, this is why all the 05's have Aluminum covers right from the factory to get rid of the heat, have talked to 3 different Titan owners in the area and they have all had the rear differential fail, told 1 individual about the noise and he stated his did the same thing right before if failed!!!!!!!!!!! 04 LE CC 4X4 Off Road & Big Tow Package.

I have been to the Nissan dealership, and driven the Titan, but I don't think I will be buying one simply because of the gas mileage thing. I love the truck but I am not going to sacrifice that for the terrible mileage.
