Had it up in the air last week getting the oil changed (aftermarket, my oil, Nissan's filter) and noticed some oil staining around the rear axle seals and the diff cover.  No drips, but I'm a bit concerned as to what will happen down the road with a few more miles (currently at 4100).

Comments??

Rick

Funny you should mention this. Conincidentally, I saw the same thing today when looking at my spare. Brought to the dealer - they took it right in. All the bolts on the rear cover were tightened to spec - levels, front and rear diff. were normal. I was told a little bit of "sweating" occurs when new around that rear gasket. Spray some WD40 on there - wipe off - shouldn't be a problem anymore. 2,800 miles here.

You changed the rear diff fluid at 4,700? How come?

Also, just curious - did you drop the cover back there - or did you suck out the fluid through the hole. Also, haven't read up on this anywhere - but since you did it you probably know - is a bottle of "anti-slip" stuff required when you re-fill back there? I know a bottle of that is a little pricey and didn't know if Nissan requires it - like Dodge does - or not?

Any info on changing aft-diff. fluid appreciated....
