I am planning a trip from south Florida to North Carolina in which I will be towing my Jeep.  I have three options..Use a tow bar....use a Wheel dolly   or beg, borrow or rent a trailer and install an electric brake contol box.

Has anyone use thier Titan to tow vehicles? any advise ?

I have used both in the past with an X-terra as the tow vehicle.....needless to say...we traded it for the Titan

From past experience flat towing on a trailer is the easiest on the towed vehicle. I haven’t towed a car with my Titan yet but would opt for the trailer if I were you.

The trailer would make life easy and keep the wear & tear down on the vehicle being towed but you do what you must. My second choice would be a wheel dolly but thats just me

That is what I like to hear. The Ford ford is heavier than then my Jeep.

I just finished installing the electric brake control box....

Thanks for the news.

Well I guess I answered my own post:

I towed my Jeep on a tadem axle trailer I borrowed from a friend today. The Jeep is built up and probably weighs in around 3800-4000 pounds.  I took a short 60 mile test trip two exits up the interstates and back. Everthing worked great. Ran the AC in the 90 degree weather, none of the gauges moved. Once I got the Jeep balanced and coordinated the toungue weight, it was fine. No sway, no heaves, very comfortable and easy to drive. Even jerked the wheel trying to make it sway as in a evasive manuever. It self corrected instantly.

Oh buy the way...This truck still had plenty of power left to be asked for at any time, but I was taking it easy on this first tow.

I am leaving for a 12 hour ride up to the Smokie Mountains next week. I will be towing the Jeep almost 1200 miles round trip.

I will post results when I return....

The more I use this truck the more I love it..------->

OK I am Back...

This Truck opened a can of woopass on the interstate. I ran up ( first 680 miles at 55 mph. On the way back, the cruise was set at  70 MPH and 75 MPH and I ran for 680 miles. Only stopped for bathroom, fuel and coffee. Gauges never moved. Only a little slugglish on the on ramps.  That means I knew the traler and Jeep were behind me.  But once it was up to speed, it was GOD.    It was cool passing other trucks that were empty just tooling along.I dont know if they were looking at the Jeep or the titan. the trailer brakes worked fine witht he pre wiring from the big tow package.

The fuel milage was OK on the way up @55MPH. But she likes her gas at 70 +MPH towing 5000 lbs

over three tanks of fuel each way , I averaged 11.32MPG @55MPH

and on the way back @70 - 75mMPH I averaged 9.06MPG

I use all mid grade fuel at differnet stations. Mobil, Chevron, Texico

I tow a 7500 pound 36 ft enclosed carson racer trailor with mine. I passed everything that was in my way up a 30 mile grade doing about 75mph, never hesitated but I will be going a bit slower because of the gas mileage i got. That is with a 8 " lift on 35's.
