I have not bought a Titan yet but I am interested in what people are towing with them. I am currently driving a Mazda B4000 and towing a pop-up camper but the wife wants to get a new tow behind toy hauler. We are looking at a unit that weighs about 4700 lbs empty, add on 1300 lbs of motorcycle and gear and we will be around 8000 lbs.
Even though the truck is rated at 9500 lbs, I am concerned if that is an unrealistic weight to tow. We will eventually want to go from New Hampshire to the wid-west and Florida, so we will be doing more that just short trips and I am concerned that this type of towing will be at the limits of the truck.
Is there anybody out there towing big loads?
What types of problems have you had?
What successes have you had?

I just traded in my 98' Ranger 2wd w/ 4.0L . I also tow a PU tent railer, and bought the Titan thinking in couple of years I might trade up to a Toy Hauler. I agree, even thought the factory brags about the 9500 lb towing, I would never try to tow that much. I would feel comfortable with no more then about 6500-7000 lbs towing myself. Ive been looking, and have found several lighter TH trailers w/ GVWR's around 5000-6500 lbs.

I bougth my SE with off-road and big tow mainly for the purpose of
towing a 25ft. travel trailer (~5,500 lbs). The truck is holding up to
that load pretty well, but here a few issues I encountered:
- gas milage drops down significantly, at time below 10 mpg.
besides the $$$ what's really annoying is the small tank (28 gl).
- make sure the dealer preps differential for towing (tougher
fluids). despite that, mine has a all rusty cover with just 3,700
miles because it got so hot that it burned the coat.
- I had the opportunity to tow my trailer also with a Titan w/o
off-road pack and that truck bounced much more over freeway bumps than
w/ off-road pack. reason enough to go for it.
- In the long run, I will go for a diesel to avoid the numberous gaz station stops, even with my relatively small trailer.
hope that helps

I own a two wheel drive with the tow package. I towed a 32 ft enclosed carson racer trailor (7300 lbs) from so cali to blythe and back. The gas mileage isnt the best but the towing is great. Towed same trailor with a ford f-150, chevy 1500 and 2500, titan tows it the best. But if you are going to tow alot I would recomend a diesel, a dodge would work just fine.

I towed a 24 ft travel trailer (~5200 lbs empty) loaded with a bunch of camping gear, food, etc., plus a bed full of other crap (firewood, chairs, etc). The Titan did great up and down hills in the Poconos of PA. Gas mileage was about 9 MPG. Not good, but I didn't buy the truck for the gas mileage.

I pull a 26' travel trailer that ways approx 6000 lbs loaded. I feel comfortable towing at this weight. Even though the Titan is rated at 9400-9500 lbs, one has to really watch the GVW and the Gross Combined Weight Rating. The Titan GVW is around 6400 lbs and the curb weight for a King Cab is around 5200. This only leaves around 1200 lbs to play with. I work for an OEM that produces Toy Haulers, and know for a fact they are tounge heavy. Watch your weights and remember to account for passengers and other things you will put on/in the truck.
