I wonder if I'm the only guy who has done this.  Bought the sliding tool box and mounted it.  I've been using it a couple of months.  Looks good, well constructed and all...but about twice what it should have cost.  Also, it severely impinged upon the already less than voluminous bed space in my crew cab version.

Anyway, I thought the ladder racks might be handy for a variety of reasons.  They looked good in the catalog and I have to say after receiving them I was not  disappointed in the quality.

However, it was clear from the start that they weren't gonna fit along with the toolbox unless some sort of alteration was done.  Turns out, Nissan offers a adjunct bracket kit to allow for the simultaneous use.  "Good", I said to the parts guy, "I'll have one".

The kit arrived promptly, and it work's the way it was designed to work.  Valid concept but miserable execution.  The deal is.....mount the forward ladder rack as far forward allowable on the side utili-tracks, and then install the new bracket kit on the utili-track section at the front of the bed.  After that, simply slide the toolbox back in.

Trouble is, the toolbox now sits approx. 9 or 10 inches further back in the bed than where pick-up truck toolboxes oughta sit.  It's sort of a mid-bed mounted box now.  It looks goofy as can be.  Bed space is even more compromised...no more carrying the short wheelbased vintage BMW motorcycle in there...even with the tailgate down.  And the useless space between the front of the bed and the toolbox sort of taunts me every time I look at it.  Seems the admiring glances I used to get from other drivers have waned somewhat....and those that do glance my way have one eyebrow raised.

Parts guy agrees that it is a ridiculous arrangement......so he's gonna take the racks back.  I really can't ask for more than that.  Live and learn, I say.

I wonder if Nissan will come out with a long bed version of the Titan in the future. I agree, room is scarce in the bed. That's why I only got the King Cab. And I have the sliding bed extender. I use it all the time to fit my quad and dirtbike back there.

I'm glad your dealer was cool with you. All too often you hear of dealers just trying to make a buck.

And thanks for hte info.

I too have the rack for the utilitrack. It is great for hauling the kayaks since the bed is to short. But the rack does hender installing any kind of bed cover. I guess I wil have to make one out of something. Any one have any ideas?

Glad to see that the dealer is working with you on returning the rack. The dealer here is great also.

I am thinking about makeing a bed cover out of diamond plat and makeing it two parts so that I could slide one under the other.  I plan on letting it rest on the utilitrack and adding stiffners every foot or so.
