i have had my titan for 1.5 months. i love it. i have been
asking around for some advice on how to get more mpg. suggestions
that were made:
1. synthetic oil
2. throttle body spacer( but read here that they dont do much)
3. better air filter
4. leave tailgate down
also, the 2005 titan can also take E85 as its fuel. looked it up
on the net and found out that there are very fuel stations that offer
it at this time. heard some say that it gives you better gas
mileage, and just as many say that it gets up to 30% worse gas
mileage.
if any of you titan lovers can give me any suggestions or info on any of these topics, please do so.
marcus

After break in period, I change to a K&N drop in filter, and got better gas mileage, 14.3 city, 20-22 mpg highway. But know, I just changed that to a Volant cold air intake, haven't been able to see any results yet. But changing air intake or just the filter will improve mpg. Synthetic may help also, but as for as the TBS and leaving the gate down, I don't think those will help with gas mileage.

Where did you get your K&N? I've looked for aftermarket stuff for the Titan but can't seem to find anything.
Thanks....Bob

I checked around at the "local" auto parts stores, and they said it was too "new". I was like, WTF you're an auto parts store? Anyway, I found it on eBay for about $34.

There was a study released that shows leaving the tailgate down doesn't do much at all. But a toneau cover will increase, and a full size topper gets even better.
I did notice an increase when I installed my tractop. As well as a higher top end speed.

Actually, a Univerisity actually found that leaving the tailgate down
was slightly worse than leaving it up. By leaving it up there is
a high pressure formed in the bed area which forces air over the top of
the bed. By putting the tailgate down, it causes lots of
turbulance and turbulance takes energy which reduces efficiency.
Buy a cover for the best results.
