When I fill my tank and top-off I find that the fuel gauge reads about a little over the width of the needle below the full markings on the gauge. Has any one notice this? It seems like it goes from "full" to 3/4 and 1/2 very quickly and then takes alot longer for the bottom half of the tank to be consumed. I travel alot and while I only have 2200 miles on this truck it still makes me look when I justed fuel for a trip and I'm down to 3/4 on the gauge so quickly.
I did the math and I'm getting around 14 mpg. I am thinking the fuel gauge sender is maybe a little out of whack and wanted to see if others have this issue on their trucks?

I have the same problem. Service couldn't give me an answer to why this happens. It is really annoying, you never really know how much fuel you have left when it is on E... usually there are 8-10 gallons left in my tank when I fill it on E.

I've noticed the same thing on mine. Filled up the other day and only got 50 km on the first quater. Also, when I have let it get down to 1/8th of a tank left, I've only put in maybe 80 litres. It's supposed to take 106L. somethjing is not quite right.

When the low fuel light comes on, I have about 7-8 gallons left. That should help judge your gauge as well.

I Have the same problem as well. It seems like that I go 15 miles to a 1/4 tank. Empty is 7-8 gallons left in tank. Dealer says they never heard of it.

a few times ive thought i was gonna run out of gas but when i got to the gas station i found i had like 5 or 6 more gallons left. kinda annoying on long trips where you want to stretch the last bit of gas to make it to your destintion.

My new 2005 Titan has 1700 miles and it and the gas gauge stopped working today. When you turn the key on it jumps from empty to full and stays on full no mater how many miles you drive. Then when you turn the key off, it goes back to empty. Now I just estimate the fuel usage with the trip odo. I called the dealer and they said they have never heard of that happening but to bring it in and they would fix it. So far, it has a rough ride. Loud exhaust. Sorry gas mileage. Other than that it's great. From the postings on this forum, it appears that I can look forward to many other problems. I started to buy a Tundra. Live and learn. Steve Jones, Woodville, Texas.

Funny... I just had a call with my service writer and I had told them about this before, they said that their is nothing wrong with it... I asked him how can their be nothing wrong with it??? I was below a quarter tank which should be 21 + gallons of gas correct? Well I filled up and it was 17.2 gallons to fill it up... He said this was normal... How the hell is that normal? I then asked him, so you mean to tell me that if I the tank reads E I should have 7 or so gallons left and he said yes till the gas light comes on.... HOW THE HELL???? So aggitated...

Turns out mine was a "Bent Fuel Rod" on the fuel sender unit. It was covered under warranty. I will post the work order once I get a chance to scan it.
