I am having a problem that the dealer can not duplicate or fix.  When the problem occurs, the pedal has no resistance for the first 3/4 of it's travel.  Then, the brakes grab.  During the pedal travel, there is a very loud, spring-like sound.

The dealer did both of the brake TSB's, although neither addressed my problem.  The problem happened three times last week, twice after they did the TSB's.  They now claim that "everything is within specs." And, "I should not be affraid to drive the truck or have my wife drive the truck."

I am ready to file LEMON.

Does anyone have the same or a posible cause/solution?

Thanks - Steve

Hi Steve,

I have just noticed what you described in the last few weeks.  It has happened three times.  I have not called the dealer yet to have this checked out.  This is the only problem I have had with the truck since I purchased it in May 2004.  I will let you know what I find out.  Please let me know if you get this problem resolved.  Thanks.

Carolyn

I sent Nissan North America notice of thier last try to fix the problem.  The regional tech rep spoke to me.  At first, he said that the truck met all specs.  Then, after I gave him the same description that I gave the locals three times, he said that he might have an idea.  I got a call later.  They found a fault code.  The "delta sensor" in the power booster was bad.  They overnighted a new one.

They delivered my truck to my place of work.  There were two Nissan hats, a sweatshirt, and a travel mug on the seat.  They filled the gas tank, and they detailed it inside and out.  I still need to se the GM to see what he will do for pennance.

So far, the problem has not returned.  But, I have already sent the letter.

If this is a widespread problem, I would be willing to participate in a class action suit.  I spent a lot of time trying to get them to fix their problem.  My biggest concern was that they told my wife to "go ahead and drive it.  There's no safety problem."

Hi All,

This is a follow up to my previous post.  The dealer found the master cylinder to be faulty.  The brake pedal had way too much play which they believe was setting off the ABS (although ABS light did not flash?).  They kept the truck overnight, gave me a rental, and fed ex the part.  Brakes are much better!  They checked the rotors and pads as well, and at 7,000 miles the originals are still fine.  I'll let you know if I have any more problems.  Thanks to everyone else who posted messages.
