Hey, my brother has a Titan 4x4 off-road and while crossing a small stream about 2 feet across and 3 inches deep the wheels spun ( he's got Goodyear wrangler MT-R tires), so he put it in 4 low and locked the rear. The left front wheel spun and threw mud up inside the wheel well where the air intake is. It sucked GALLONS of mud up through the intake and into the engine! The engine is dead...

Anybody else have problems with this? I'm trying to gather any information he might need for insurance or warranty information to help him out with this problem.

Thanks in advance

If anybody goes off-road in their Titan think about this before you go since the intake is in such a stupid location.

Yeah it is totally stock except for the tires...they are stock size, just more agressive tread.  It's a 2004 crew cab 4x4 SE with tow package and off road package.

It's not operator error... As it turns out it seems like the plastic fender liner was loose so it could allow the mud to fling up off the tire and into the intake snorkel. If you don't have any helpfull input feel free to not contribute.

Had me looking. Hit a big puddel at a pretty good pace. (street) Thought mabey it was enough pressure to move the plastic fender well. Not the case. All is good.

well, I'm glad you are all so closed minded that you can't even begin to imagine something like this happening.  Apparently nobody here has ever heard of a freak accident.  But the fact is it really happened.  I called my mom and told her to get as many pics from as many angles as possible of the creek, the truck and everything involved.  Hopefully she will get it done quickly and send me the pics and i can post them up for you to see.  If Nissan won't replace the engine than my brother will have to buy a new engine himself which would suck because I'm sure that's an expensive engine.  Whatever happens, he'll get it fixed.
