Ok, I absolutely love this truck but am a little frustrated thus far... I bought the truck on December 10th... A 04 SE...  I only have 2200 mile on it and this is my list of problems:

1)Spray in bedliner turning white

2)Brake Shudder

3)Hose for power steering fluid being replaced for 2nd time due to leak

4)Gas Gauge is way off 1/4 tank left usually is 14 gallons to fill up

So far all are minor problems but for a truck with 2200 miles come on.... My 02 Tacoma never had a problem in 65,000 miles that I had it before I got the titan...

No for my questions, can somebody tell me if their antifreeze in the resovior is really dark in color?  I went under the hood and noticed it was really dark in color, that doesn't seem normal to me... I have no problem with overheating or nothing so I don't know if this is normal or not.....

Any info is much appreciated....

Mark

I really want to know what is turning the bedliner white!  I have had my truck for close to a year and it is still fine.  I just want to know if there is something I need to stay away from.

I am thinking it is something to do with either 1) Rain, or 2) which I really think it is, Road Salt....  Either way it won't come out and I am not spraying my bed with the tired shine or black magic like others have suggested in other posts.....

Yeah I've noticed the coolant being dark also. My father-in-law has a CC 4wd, and I looked his over after he bought his and his coolant is also dark. I haven't noticed his bedliner latley but I do think is is starting to discolor. Have you tried scubbing it down with a strong but mild multipurpose cleaner like 409 or Simple Green. Maybe that would get it gone? Don't really know for sure cause I got the drop in. Anyways good luck with your problems. As for all of your problems, I expected to have a few beings it is a first year production truck. The way it sounds the 05's are somewhat better but not all that much of an improvement. The brake judder fix will be coming in April I hear. Nissan finally figured out the the calipers were not releasing the pad fully causing the rotors to overheat and warp. I think they said that they were going to replace both front calipers and rotors. I don't think that the rears have anything to do with the judder, but I don't know why they wouldn't replace all of them though. Anyways I'll shut-up and quit typing cause my fingers are starting to cramp up. Damn carpal tunnel syndrome.

serch,

I've experienced almost all the same problems minus the gas guage and the power steering hose. My antifreeze too is dark in color compaired to off-the-shelf brands. As for my faded bedliner, it is either rain or soap for me. Sometimes, I have been in a hurry to wash it and haven't rinsed the bed completely. I'm going to try the simple green approach. I'll let you know. As for the brake shudder thing, the dealer will fix that one way or another. Mine started at about 10,000 miles. Finally got the parts in to do the "fix" about a month ago. I've got about 1,500 miles on the new brakes, sofar so good.

Good luck, and I agree with bigbear05 on this, the 04 is a first model year, and no matter what pre-testing they do, there are always problems not realized until production.

One thing about the bed discoloration.... I firmly believe it is not rain. I live in near Seattle and let me tell you, it rains here so much the cows and horses have fins!

Seems it must be some kind of chemical reaction or something, maybe soap, maybe heck i dont know. All i know, if it was rain my bed would be gloss white.
