Hey guys,

I've experienced the following and was wondering if any of you have noticed the same. I drive for maybe 45 minutes, then pull over, shift into park and let the truck idle (I was waiting to meet someone, so I was just sitting in the truck listening to the radio). I think the heater might have been on low, A/C was off (I'm pretty sure). The truck was idling smoothly, then suddenly gulped really hard. the tach went almost to zero, then came back to normal idle. I waited another 4 minutes or so and it did it again. I've heard it do it from time to time while in line at drive thru's, etc. It is somewhat random, so its hard to "make" it do it. I'm running regular unleaded with a clean K&N filtercharger and stock exhaust.

Anyone else experienced this?

check to see if your defroster is on, if it is then you actually are running your AC and the engine will adjust itself to maintain the compressor.

It sounds like your ECM is going back into open loop condition, with a really long transition from closed loop condition. The ECM goes open if your O2 sensor in the exhaust falls below about 600 degrees. During this transition there is no output from the ECM, but it usually happens fast. Bearly noticeable unless you are listening for it. Idling will normally let the O2 sensor get below 600 degrees at which point it does not put out the right voltage for the ECM to read. So the ECM will ignore it and transition to looking at other emissions devices.
