I just got a 05 SE and i love it, i got a great price on set on 22" rims. (Rim usually aren't my style but i figure it will look good.) Anyway will they fit with no rubbing and will affect payload capacity or towing because i do use it to tow my other truck. Also how will it affect the warrewnty cause i'm also having the brake problem as well. Thanx for the feedback.

We bought an 04 XE with 6,000 miles on it recently. The previous owner put 22" chrome wheels on it. Shortly after we bought it we started having the vibration in the wheel.  I took it in and the dealer machined and turned the rotors as well as put on new brake pads. He told me that they will not do it again for free because we put on the larger wheels and it could be caused from that. After reading the posts in the problems bulletin I know that is BS! If the problem comes back I will take the truck back in. I am hoping they just come out with a recall and fix it permanantly. By the way...the truck looks awesome!

All im going to say is that 22's mess up your brakes. Silverados, dodge rams, f-150s, tundras, and titans are all the same in that once you get a rim bigger than 20s stopping your bigger wheel is more of a problem than one might think. Lets just put it this way... stopping with 22s is harder. Harder stopping on the brakes causes them to wear down faster. Go ask any rim dealer about the 22s. They will suggest getting new brake pads etc. Id say if the deal is really that good... buy them and sell them for more. Then go out and buy yourself some decent 20 inch rims that wont give you any problems

The brakes on the 05s are noe better they are the same as the 04s as Nissan won't acknowledge that there is really an issue with all the trucks. They seem to think its onyl a few and like to keep their head in the sand until the class action id finalized. Then we will see them really get to the issue. It happen on the G35s and Nissan tried to wish it away and we got a 30k war added to our brakes. It just a matter of time late 05s might get the 14 inch rotors but the 06s are getting them and thats from Nissan to the dealers.

The size of your rims has nothing with the stopping power of your brakes, unless the rims are made of lead, but that's another debate. It's solely dependent on the overall circumference of the tires. If your tire circumference has changed, or increased, you will be adding to the radius (arm - length from the center of the hub to the outside diameter), and therefore decreasing the torque required to stop the vehicle. If you have really small rims on the vehicle, you will need much stronger brakes to stop the same amount of weight. Hope that clears things up.

Larger rims = increased rolling weight = harder to stop.  It is highly recommended to put a bigger brake kit on any vehicle that you increase the wheel size 2+" more than stock.
