Just got an SE Crew Cab with Big Tow package.  The rims are 18" five spoke, the tires are Goodyear P265/70R18.  Without any modifications to the suspension, I wanted to put on some BF Goodrich All Terrains in the only 18" rim size they make now - LT85/65R18/D.  I've been to two tire places.  One guy said I don't have enough clearance in the front wheel wells for this size of tire.  The other guy said no problem.  Does anyone know what the reality is?

What is the width? Your post states LT85...I miss stuff typing all the time. I hunt and peck. Where they 285s or 385s?? I don't think I have ever seen a 385 but you can order some pretty wild stuff if you have the connections.

Buster,

The LT285/65R18/D you want is actually the same diameter as the stock tire but maybe a half inch wider.  So, yes, it would fit without problems.

Check out this web site for the comparison: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Hope this helps!

Well I ended up going DOWN to a 17X8 Eagle Alloy rim to fit some 285/70/17 Mudterrains under my fender and even with that the tires are rubbing the inner fender. I'm installing my prerunner 2.5" lift kit to get rid of that but Its going to be interesting getting those in there on 18" rims. I even tried cutting out some of the inner fender and removed the mud flaps and it still rubs on the turns. Good luck man..

BTW pics of my truck pre-lift

ok go to http://members.cox.net/w.suarez/
